Message :My original point was that with a Bigger turbo such as a HKS 2530 and above it IS benifical to get a FMIC over a Smic.
The cross flow FMIC's such as the apollo, the greddy, etc have more pressure drop than most SMIC's. Pressure drop is a function of flow, so with a higher flowing turbo such as a GT2530, it will be even more of a problem than on a smaller turbo. I believe your logic is flawed.

:On another note - No one (except SGP) believed that the Greddy Ic's would outflow the Stillen SMIC but they did - i myself was surprised. Not only did they outflow the Stillens but they had more resistance to heat soak.

Hmm...that's odd. Mike Smith of JWT says the opposite. He thinks the Greddy's are crap because they don't have enough frontal area, and are thus more prone to heatsoak. The thicker the core, the more resistance to ambient airflow. This in turn reduces the efficiency of the IC.

I tested this back tyo back and i WAS amazed. It seems to me that the Type of core has a LOT to do with efficiency .

Bar and plate is superior to tube and fin. I thought this was common knowledge...maybe not. If you have test data, please share.

Bell says core type has very little effect. I disagree.

:Just because its Corky Bell its not gospel.

True, but he does make IC's for a living. Just a thought
